I woke up
Confused and dazed
In a foreign land
Covered entirely with sand
A few humans helped me
Arise from my cocoon
They had found me
Buried deep inside this unknown land
Where was I?
Was I lost?
Is this where I belonged?
Or a place I was transported to?
God knows! All I could see was sand!
Sand in front of me,
Sand behind me,
Sand around me
Sand all over me.
I wanted to go home!
I could hear the shore
I could smell the saltiness
I could sense I was in a beach!
But where was this place?
Where was my mother?
Did she abandon me?
I wanted to know
And so I started on my journey
Taking tiny steps
I inched towards the shore
Making pretty prints with my paddles
I was going to explore
The big blue, all by myself
Curious to find answers
To know who I was!
It felt strange
To leave this land
To go to an unchartered territory,
With predators and peril lurking
With every stroke,
I went deeper
And I felt the jolt get more intense
Tossing me topsy turvy and flipping me from side to side
As I surfed through the third wave,
I managed to surface above the foamy froth,
And I glanced at the sandy shore,
And whispered, “I’ll be back home”.
