Ma, I exclaimed!
Frightened and puzzled
Noticed it in bright red
Gushing like a flash-flood
Was it normal? Am I the only one?
Questions bombarding my mind
Answers for some
I could hardly find
Neither did Amma tell me
Nor did my friend
Later I learnt
That this was a monthly trend
Should wear some tampons
I was told
All I wanted was respite
Feeling weak, drained and cold
The flow didn’t stop
I wondered to myself
Fetched from a myriad
Why the word period?
I affirmed to myself
That all will be okay
It was no child’s play
Facing my first red day
